Photographer Mario Testino and Film Director David Mackenzie choose GlenGlen has always had an attraction for artists of all kinds. Wordsworth talks about visiting Glenbanks and Oscar Wilde was one of the many creatives to visit the family during their summer residence. Even today the estate is home to more than its fair share of musicians, painters and writers. The 5000-acre estate has a huge variety of different landscapes and wooded areas to shoot in, from expansive parkland to huge natural woods. In addition to the beauty of the exteriors, the House also offers a multitude of filming possibilities. It has grand interiors, and also quirky, more intricate rooms to shoot in. And a house of this size also offers the combination of the upstairs downstairs in one location. Throughout the house there are the original paintings, engraved prints, furniture, fabrics and objets d'art making the place one of only a few in Scotland to have kept the genuine atmosphere of a traditional Victorian country house. Even still in the recent filming of Hallam Foe, the Director David Mackenzie wanted a more contemporary interior and this was achieved just as successfully.
